12/21 Weekly Challenge- Snowflakes and Bling

ok ladies... we got some snow today... and we got alot..
so this challenge is perfect for snow, winter, holiday, Christmas pages, almost anything....

For your challenge I want to see:
At least TWO snowflakes on your page
Dress them up with some bling (think glitter, mists, bling, etc)

Mid Week Challenge- Easy Stampin

ok since Christmas is coming, and I know you are all busy and have lots on your plate.. I thought I would post a kinda easy challenge, but something that you could actually use towards the upcoming holidays!!!!!

I don't know if you've seen the REALLLLLY cool and fun stamps in the CP Store from Hampton Studio G??? well guess what, they are only .89!!!!! Some of the packs come with 2 stamps and some even have BLING with them!!!! Check them out HERE:

It was so easy turning these inexpensive gift bags from Jo-Ann’s into adorable treat bags for teachers. I cut out the snowmen using my Cricut and the Winter Woodland cartridge. “On The First Day Of Christmas, My Scrappy Friend Gave To Me” one altered acrylic paint can complete with a winter banner for hanging up. I used the BoBunny Midnight Frost Collection to complete this project. The cardstock stickers made embellishing the paint can super easy. To add dimension to the banner I used the adhesive chipboard and added buttons.

The challenge for this week is a simple one! Alter your alphabet to match your layout better!

For my layout, I used the Jillibean Soup cooregated alpha in white and I used two colors of Glimmer Mist to give them some color and some shine..a little yellow and a little truffle made them pop and really gave a sweet tone to the layout, I think!

10/18 Class : Halloween Treat Toppers

Hey All you Croppin Paradisers. I thought you'd like a super quick and easy idea for goodies for your kids' classmates for Halloween. I made these treat bags for the Twinnies' class in 30-45 minutes from pulling product to completion. You can probably make 10 in 10-15 minutes. I used some MME Haunted papers and Reminisce Autumn Forest from the CP store. I also picked up some snack bags and foam stickers from the dollar store (what kid doesn't think everything is made better with those darn foam pieces?!?)

I cut some pp just a tad wider than the bags (6 3/4) wide and about 3 1/4 tall. I scored them in half (the short side). And from there I just started building a cute fun little topper. I used my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to adhere the toppers to the snack bags and voila!!

Weekly Challenge 10/4... Tear it Up

ok ladies... one of the first techniques I probably got into was paper tearing.. remember back in the day, when it was probably one of the ONLY techniques out there?? The challenge is posted to play along HERE, so check it out.

Well for this challenge, it's take it up a notch and tear in layers... Let see AT LEAST 3 LAYERS of tearing... and then add something else to your tears- which could be sewing on it, inking it, embossing it, or anything else that makes you go the extra mile with adding some texture on your page...

Here is my example, I had 4 layers of tearing layers and then machine sewed across the layers:

Taking Themey Papers and Using them on Everyday Pages

I happen to be a big sucker for themey papers that come out. Halloween is always a favorite of mine, just because I know I take lots of photos, and Christmas, I LOVE to use it to make cards, and always have a boat load of photos to scrap. But how many times do you look at themey papers and just think, but I don’t have many Easter photos, or I don’t take pictures are Valentines? So why should I buy themey papers? For this article, I did just that. I took themey papers, and grabbed my most recent stack of printed pictures, all from this summer, and used some of the latest released themey papers.

For these two pages I used the Echo Park Happy Halloween papers to create two totally different pages. The top one is some photos of my kids and nephews that we took at the baseball game we went to in July. I looked at the colors in my nephews shirt and saw it worked perfectly with the colors in the Halloween lines. That is a great way to stretch themey papers: use photos with coordinating colors.

This second page also used the Echo Park Happy Halloween line, the colors of my son’s shirt AND the lighting in the background matched the papers perfectly. This was a photo that was taken while we ate dinner out one night. Now even though the skulls are kinda more Halloween, it works with boy pages. Also I used the haunted house gate sticker, to add some texture on the page as an accent. So: See what patterns match with your photos to coordinate.

This page used the super fun Everybody Loves Christmas line from Echo Park. This line has lots of non traditional colors: pinks, aqua, lime green, and yellows. It made it very easy to create a non themey layout. I even used the Merry sticker for my title “Merry Smiles” and the “Joy” sticker to add onto my page for fun accents. So don’t be afraid to USE some of the themey embellies and just add them onto your page.

Now this line was probably the hardest to not create a themey page, since I used the VERY traditional Merry Christmas line from Echo Park. I choose to just stick with the reds and browns, instead of adding too much green, so my page didn’t look too Christmas related. The photo is one of the kids at a miniature golf park, but I love the browns and how they add lots of richness on the page. I even used the snowflake paper to make a ribbon pleat, but you can hardly tell with a non themey page, that’s what I used. The circle with the wording “4ever” is actually an ornament without the ornament top showing on it.

I even created two Happy Birthday cards with the left over scraps from the two Christmas lines that I used. Both cards have themey elements, but don’t have an overall themey feel to them, so they can be used for just about any occasion. The snowflake on the bottom one can be pulled off as just a flower accent, and the top card just has a rich color feel about it, instead of screaming holidays and Christmas.

So, next time you see those themey lines, just remember, you can always stretch your papers and embellies and use them for more than just holiday pages and cards.

I'm married to my hubby of twenty one years, I have two rowdy boys, love to read other peoples blogs, go on adventures, cook, craft, and am a reality show junkie. Back to school,

weather getting cooler,
daylight savings time begins!

Fall brings lots of changes, and there will be no exception to that rule here at Croppin Paradise!

The Design Team will be bringing you new challenges and fun activities beginning this month on the Croppin Paradise forum.

Here are some of the changes you can look for:

SQOTD and QOTD will be brought to you by the same person for a week at a time! - Get in those threads and answer their questions, it is a great way to get to know everyone!

Completing the Weekly Challenge and the Sketch Challenge each week will continue to earn you a chance to win the monthly $15.00 GC; however, the CP team will be inviting the monthly winner to join them as a GDT Member! - That person will be asked to design a couple of projects using CP store items and weigh in on how they enjoyed them.. The GDT Member for the month will also be highlight on our blog and in the forum and asked to host the SQOTD/QOTD and a weekly challenge during the month.

Each week the CP DT will offer up a class! These classes will be aimed at everything from how to put together a simple layout to how to execute exciting new techniques! (I have some book binding techniques on my mind to share with you all!)

We will continue to pick one of our members fabulous projects from the gallery each week to highlight for the Layout of the Week, so keep em coming!

And finally, watch out for us on Facebook! We will be posting layouts and other exciting news on the CP wall for all to see! If you are not currently a friend or fan, you will want to be sure to become one!

Hello . . . it's Andrea and I'm coming at you live from my new scrap space to present you with the above sketch! I had a lot of different matting on this particular as it is a picture of my high school so I wanted to incorporate my school's colors! I think it would be totally great to mix and match different patterns . . . the opportunities are endless! I misted the heck out of a white piece of cardstock and masked stars all over the place. It wasn't complete without a little red ribbon and some journaling in the form of a label maker!

My challenge, I hope, will be a fun one! I was looking through the latest issue of Vanity Fair (the one with Lady Gaga on the cover) and came across this short article by Michael Kors titled My Dream. It totally inspired this layout!!
My challenge to you, is to create a similar layout showcasing some of your dreams along with a portrait of yourself or someone else that you interview. I think that this would be a cool page to interview a family member and see what their dreams are!

It's Almost Time for Camp Paradise!

Are you all ready for camp? For some great camp challenges that are sure to spark your mojo? For some fun camp games? I hope you have your sunscreen and bug spray ready...because camp starts in just 5 days!!

You will need to register for camp, please go HERE on the Croppin' Paradise message board. You will get to introduce yourself and answer some fun questions. And here are all the details!

1. Camp Paradise is open to the public and free for all! In fact, we encourage you to bring your friends! The more, the merrier!

2. Camp will begin on Thursday, July 15th, 2010 and end on Sunday, August 15th, 2010. You will want to be prompt; we don’t want you to miss out on any of the fun!

3.Here at Camp Paradise, there is something for everyone! Each week there will be 8 challenges issued; one in each of the following camp inspired categories:

Arts/Crafts
Mess Hall
Sports/Rec
Music/Drama
Outdoor Ed
Cabin Life
Campfire
Camp Spirit
Wildlife

You may choose to complete 1 camp activity or all 8, it is up to you; however, each camper will earn a “merit” badge, which will be displayed in their signature line, for each challenge completed for the week. The camper with the most merit badges at the end of camp, wins the Grand Prize, which includes a $30.00 Gift Certificate to the CP store, an Always and Forever album kit from Bo Bunny, a Making Memories jewelry kit, the pink “Scrap Queen” tee-shirt pictured below and more!

4. Camp challenges will be issued each week on Thursday. You will have until the following Wednesday at midnight (EST) to complete as many challenges as you want to or are able to complete. At midnight the weeks’ challenge threads will be locked and badges issued for each camper who completed the challenge and linked it to the appropriate camp challenge thread!

5. Camp problems should be reported to the Head Counselor (me) via PM or email (CroppinParadiseDT@gmail.com)

6. A talent show will be held during the last weekend of camp! These challenges will give each camper a chance to show off their scrapping talents (and be rewarded for them!) –

7. Our fabulous camp counselors will be available to help you in any way they can, all you have to do is ask!

8. Lights out is optional; feel free to burn the midnight oil!

9. Join us for “Campfire Talk” every Monday, Wednesday and Friday where there might be a game or two, a new technique and a chance to make new friends!

10. Have fun!

I decided to make it easy on everyone this week. I thought we'd have a nice, simple challenge this time around. My challenge is to use something new, something from your stash (I'm a huge supporter of using your stash), and the color yellow. We'd love to see what you come up with. Weekly Sketch

Hi there! This week's sketch might look a little different to some of you, but it is how I create sketches. Usually, when I am preparing to scrap, I pull my pictures, my products and create a sketch on a sticky note and put everything in a baggie until I am ready to work on that layout. This sketch was one of those stickynote sketches created late at night. :)

And here is the final layout..not too far off from my sketch.

Hi Everyone!! It's time for another sketch challenge at Croppin' Paradise. I used a sketch from Jana Eubanks, she is one of my favorite scrappers and sketch artists!!

Oh, I love the banner!! Here is my layout, using the Max and Whiskers papers from Basic Grey.

The banner could not have been easier, I cut out triangles with my Cricut, layered them and added some letter stickers. Easy peasy!

Weekly Challenge 5/9 Double Bracket Challenge

This week's weekly challenge is here.... if you are like me, you like your brackets.. I LOVE how they frame a title, a photo or just some details on a page..
But for this challenge I want to see some DOUBLE BRACKETS..that's right a set of two... you can either outline them, use two sets, or use pop dots and pop a second one for some dimension on the page, or get creative and come up with your own bracket solution...

Jenny's miniBook Joy Ride

My absolute favorite-est thing to do crafty-wise is make miniBooks. There's something so fulfilling about putting together a little tactile representation of a little piece of our family's story. Sometimes, I'll do one to document a trip or a single event or holiday, and sometimes I'll just tell a story. Just some random everyday "This is Our Life" kinda ditty. This mini is the latter.

I got to work with one of Cosmo Cricket's newest lines Joyride. But, I didn't document a vacation. That would be too obvious for me this week. I decided to document my life as a Stay at Home Mom. I've included photos of half of my story, but you get the picture. Here ya go...

My new go to color is yellow. Not sure how a girly girl like myself picked yellow. I think it must have to do with that punch a hint of yellow can add to a crafty project. But, my long time favorite color is pink. I found a ton of inspiring photos on We Heart It (dot)com.

Mini Album with Generation Z Line

Welp here it is. My mini book of my son, using the Generation Z line, which can I just say, is totally freakin awesome? That's right, I said awesome. It is such a great boy line, lots of stars, guitars, wings and some wicked, wild cool boy colors. I really do enjoy scrapping fun boy pages and projects, and this line was sooo fun and easy to use. You can pick it up in the CP store right HERE, just check out all the fun and cool embellies that go along with the papers. I also used lots of the Cosmo Cricket little tiny alphas, which I just adore and great for a mini album to fit to size. I used some of the larger Cosmo alphas for some of the bigger letters that can be found HERE. For my album base, I used a Basic Grey chipboard album, that I flipped on the side for this album. The sizing on the album is great for small and larger photos.. So thanks for letting me share my creation.

Mini Album

I’m LOVIN mini albums (and there are a variety to choose from in the CP Store). Lately I’m finding that I don’t have as much time to scrap as I would like . . . with that in mind I’ve found that after I pick the mini album I want to use, gather my paper and embellishments I can complete a mini album in a day and feel like I’ve achieved a major goal.

I created this mini album as a gift for a friend. All she’ll have to do is add the photo’s and the journaling.

I used a BoBunny Cascading Album, the 7 Gypsies Venice Collection, along with some yummy Prima Flowers and Rhinestones and Jenni Bowlin Embellishments. I hope my friend likes this album as much as I do!

Better Late Than Never

Okay here it is . . . my mini book! I loved using this line from Anna Griffin calledIsabelle . . . check it out in the CP Store . . . it has the best pinks and greens!! I actually used 2 Prima packaging thingies as the base of my pages . . . I think it turned out pretty cool looking!
I tried to keep the layout of the book pretty simple. In the above picture I cut a square of the AG Isabelle paper and then made a ruffle using masking tape . . . so much fun!
In this section, I used some AG Isabelle Flocked sticker words, paper, and more masking tape!

These two pages are probably my favorite out of the entire book because I used several different strips of the paper to create the background and then topped it off with more flocked stickers!

It's All About the Mini!

For my mini, I was given the beautiful Jenni Bowlin Homespun Collection and I chose to use this fantastic Prima Acrylic and Canvas Mini Album as the base. I thought it was a perfect foundation for some pictures from the County Fair we enjoy each summer.

Besides the Jenni Bowlin paper, I used her Red Embellished Butterflies, Vintage Style Buttons in green, Red Label Stickers, Mini Bingo Cards in Red, Basic Grey Micro Chipboard Letters, and Bo Bunny Charms and Swirls... (which are some of my all time favorite go to supplies!)

Andrea's Sketch Challenge

Hello Ladies of Croppin' Paradise . . .here's the sketch that I created . . . I love butterflies and bling!

And here's the layout that I created using my own sketch . . . it's pretty fun! I used strips of paper from the Basic Grey Line Nook and Pantry to create the layout . . . the butterflies are cut from the line as is the giant "E". The title are thickers of course!

I just love those butterflies and bling . .. two of my favorite elements to use in layouts and cards!

I love the little cluster of embellishments at the bottom . . . as you can see . . . even I strayed from my own sketch . . . but that is what I LOVE about sketches!! Now, if only I could find something for my Twinnies to do other than cause trouble, I could truly scrap my cares away. I'm the lucky girly with today's challenge.
